"Happy Mothers Day" to my very clever, talented and supportive mum . Thanks for all of your creative input towards our business too, including these latest lovelies =) xxx
So three years ago today our house burnt down ....a truly shocking and life changing event to lose your home and all of your possessions in a few hours. It that wasn't a test enough a fortnight later Rodney was diagnosed with cancer for the second time since we had taken our leap of faith and sold up in suburbia to follow our dream of owning a smallholding.
So we had to dig deep and find the grit and determination to get through this ....and WE DID! With the help and support of great FAMILY, FRIENDS and COMMUNITY we continue to LIVE OUR DREAM. I'm not sure we would have been so resilient had we been stuck in soul destroying jobs. The KINDNESS we were shown carried us through the next two years of healing and rebuilding. What seemed like it could be the end actually underlined that we had made the right decision to follow our dream. Hard work but absolutely NO REGRETS!
KEEP ON KEEPING ON =)
Lot's of Christmas crafting happening @birdfarm =) Mum's knitting needles are red hot!
****** WHERE TO BUY BIRD FARM ALPACAS WARES THIS YEAR ******
I loved my basket-making day with Emma. As a complete novice, I wasn't sure how far I'd get but was delighted to go home with something that actually resembles a basket! Emma is a great teacher, very patient and relaxed, and good company with the other participants made it a lovely day. I'm looking forward to returning in future.

AVAILABLE SOON ! WELSH ALPACA TWEED CAPS ! Made with fibre from 'Dolly' the alpaca and her friends and modelled here by Rodney (Mr Bird Farm Alpacas ) =)
Alpaca being a hollow fibre is naturally much softer than sheep s wool. Interestingly it is also much stronger and warmer than wool. Being water resistant alpaca material easily wicks away moisture making it less likely to absorbs smells. Classed too as hypoallergenic being lanolin free this highly prized fabric is ideal for hats, jackets and throws. Historically reserved for the Inca royalty alpaca is now recognized universally as an eco fabric so we are VERY proud to be promoting our own WELSH WOVEN ALPACA products.
Credit to www.alanjamesraddon.co.uk for commissioning the prototype cap and supplying these photos. Thanks Al
